We unfold the humanity and skill behind industrial shapes and tools.

Craighill is an industrial design and dry goods studio based in Brooklyn, NY. Their products are born from a love of curiosity and form. The architectural and industrial influence in their products often shies away from traditional concepts of handcrafted. Through art direction and photography, we aim to reveal and honor the skilled hands behind these striking goods.

Natural lighting highlights architectural form

As an online retailer, the Craighill product images focused on shop-ready studio displays, free of imperfections. We took the opposite approach and orientated the shoot to have a lived-in feel. Instead of perfect studio lighting, we used natural lighting to highlight the texture and forms of their products. Shapes took on an architectural presence as we zoomed into their lines and curves.

Showing skilled hands in process

The sleek and streamlined goods of Craighill often betrayed the air of a large scale operation. This small design studio is in fact, anything but a commercial enterprise. Zeroing in on the skilled hands and heart behind the craft was a key to enlightening this perspective. Objects created in their native environment and capturing the still moments between process and action were our goals.
